Daily Connection Tracker

Secure attachment doesn’t happen in big moments, it’s built into the everyday rhythm of care. When children know what to expect, who to turn to, and how their needs will be met, they feel safe enough to explore, learn, and grow. This guide is for parents, nannies, and anyone supporting young children. These simple daily habits are rooted in research and designed to create predictability, warmth, and emotional connection.

Daily Habits List

Habit Example
Morning Connection Greet the child by name with eye contact and a consistent phrase like “Good morning, sunshine!”
Predictable Transitions Use the same song or cue before nap, meals, or clean-up (“Time to tidy up!”)
Emotion Labeling Reflect the child’s feelings: “You’re upset because the toy broke. I hear you.”
Presence During Tantrums Stay near, speak softly: “I’m here. You’re safe. We’ll get through this.”
Celebrating Reunions Always pause and connect when the child returns: “You’re back! I missed you.”
Bedtime/Nap Rituals Use the same book, phrase, or touch (like rubbing their back) before sleep.
Shared Responsibility Give small choices or tasks: “Would you like the red spoon or the blue one?”
Repair Moments After conflict or upset, model repair: “I’m sorry I raised my voice. Let’s try again.”
